IVF

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): We offer the most advanced treatment options available for couples choosing to proceed with IVF.

In vitro fertilization or IVF is a procedure in which a physician will remove one or more eggs from the ovaries in our office while you are asleep under anesthesia. The eggs are then fertilized by sperm inside the embryology laboratory. IVF provides the highest success rates compared to all other treatment options when using your own eggs and sperm (or donor sperm).

IVF is widely accepted due to the high success rates and continues to grow due to significant technological advances.

We have streamlined our process to ensure you are able to understand the process and schedule appointments in advance.

We will design a protocol for your IVF cycle based on your history and testing results to ensure the highest possible success rates. The protocol is an outline of the plan and the instructions and timeline for your IVF cycle.

Stimulation of the ovaries

Based on the protocol designed by your physician, you will take injectable medications for approximately 8 to 14 days to grow eggs in your ovaries. The injections contain hormones called Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones are both produced naturally in your normal menstrual cycles.

While taking the injections you will have ultrasounds to monitor your ovarian response to the medications and enable your provider to adjust the medication doses. This requires 2-5 ultrasounds which are scheduled in advance. Once the eggs are mature you will take the trigger shot, the final step in the stimulation.

Based on your protocol, you will either have a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) or a Lupron trigger shot. This shot helps the developing eggs complete the maturation process and sets ovulation in motion. Timing is very important here, as the physician must perform the egg retrieval prior to the expected time of ovulation.
